A community-based organization, Diamond Club of Ebe in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria has tasked the newly elected traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Cyril Ogbozor to ensure an inclusive governance and commitment to the public good.
At a reception hosted for the community leader, the President of Diamond Club, Mr. Linus Imobeke expressed gratitude to the people of Ebe for electing a humble and God-fearing leader at a time the community needed cultural cohesion and identity.
Mr. Imobeke, a prominent business executive pledged the total support of Diamond Club towards the Igwe Ogbozor administration and called on all Ebe indigenes to rally behind the new leader, who is also a member of the Diamond Club. In the words of Imobeke “the throne has been given to you and nobody can take it away from you… accept it as divine gift.”
He continued “it is a thing of pride for the club to produce the current traditional ruler of Ebe, after 40 years of its formation” Mr. Imobeke stated.

The Campaign Manager for Ogbozor in the hotly contested election via the Ebe representative democracy, Mr. Brendan Ugwu commended the Diamond Club for the pace-setting milestone of “having one of their own ascend to the throne – a feat none of the other relatively modern organizations in Ebe could not achieve.”
Other speakers at the event spoke of Ebe priorities including the pursuit of peace and rural development agenda. The post-election legal challenges also attracted comments with a consensus that while all aggrieved parties reserve the right to seek legal remedy for any perceived wrongs, they should sheath their sword and join hands for the unity and progress of Ebe at this critical moment of transition. “The Ebe community with a reputation for peace and love could not afford discord, crises, and mutual distrust that almost destroyed the bond that once held the community during the Forestry crisis of the 70’s and 80’s” one commentator said at the event.
In his remark, the Igwe-elect Ogbozor thanked members of the club for their unalloyed support and willingness to offer constructive advice to his administration, emphasizing that “I can’t govern alone because I need the support of every Ebe indigene whether you voted for me or not.”
The traditional ruler noted that he was aware of the enormous challenges ahead of his administration, stressing that he would continue his outreach to relevant stakeholders in the community with the goal of understanding clearly the top priorities of ordinary folks.
