New York State lawmaker speaks on education priority

New York State Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages has been speaking on the need for education and development of skill in different professions.

Honorable Solages who currently serves as the Assembly Deputy Majority Leader and Chair of the New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus told the audience at the graduation of Class of 2021 of the Ozcredo Institute of Creative Thinking that she would continue to fight for access to education for members of District 22 covering Valley Stream, the location of the institute.

She congratulated the graduands for achieving their goals and dream on schedule despite Covid-19’s limitations. Every generation, the elected official said, had shared in a struggle of their own. “Covid-19 is ours; we have endured, and we have overcome.”

In a keynote speech, President of the Center for Media and Peace Initiatives, New York, Dr. Uchenna Ekwo remarked that “we live a period of rapid change and only those with creative minds will flourish.”

He recounted possible challenges ahead of the graduates in the real world and emphasized the differences that exist in the theories in the classroom and the practical world that requires innovation to navigate.

Like the rule of the jungle – “adapt or die” Dr. Ekwo maintained that survival in contemporary society required constant adjustment to the fast-changing environment of technology, education, future of work, healthcare, cultural intelligence and many more.

Director and Founder of the Ozcredo Institute of Creativity, Dr. Olga Zbarskaya reiterated the commitment of the institution to expand its operations to provide additional services to prospective trainees.

Dr. Zbarskaya, an acclaimed author explained the importance of creativity in decision making at both the personal and professional lives of everyone and expressed the hope that the graduates would utilize the knowledge they obtained from the school for the good of society.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of diplomas to the gradating class of 2021.
